The Photographer

Dreamer. Storyteller. Light Chaser.
I specialize in photographing newborns, infants, kids, and families. Nothing lasts forever except the memories you make and the photos that capture them. I am so blessed to have you here and I am so looking forward to using my camera to capture the moments and stories of your life through my lens.

How did July Angel Photography and Peppermint Studio come to be?

The name July Angel Photography originated from a deeply personal connection. My daughter and I share the same birthday in July, and she was the inspiration behind my journey into photography. Her name is Angela, hence the combination of "July" and "Angel."

When I opened Peppermint Studio, I initially planned to use the same name for the storefront sign. However, due to length constraints, I needed to select a different name for the studio as DBA. It was then that I randomly thought of "peppermint," a herb known for its health benefits and resilience. I hoped that my business would embody similar qualities. Thus, Peppermint Studio came into existence.

Running a small business is challenging. I continuously strive to refine my photography skills and navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship. Despite the ups and downs, I find immense joy and fulfillment in what I do. I am truly honored that you have visited my page and taken the time to read my story. Thank you so much for supporting my small business. Your encouragement means the world to me.

What inspired your art?

Like most other mom photographers out there, my kids were and still are my muse. It wasn’t until I had my first baby that I picked up a DSLR and taught myself everything I could to use it. And it wasn’t until I had my second baby that I quit my job and become a stay-at-home mom but gradually started photography as a real business. Then I found what I had been missing. It makes my heart sing and dance to create art from other families’ memories.

What is your favorite photography genre?

I have tried so many genres in the past few years and I found that I like making family memories the most. I also like shooting seniors, couples or events, but I am so OBSESSED with newborns and kids. I am always addicted to purchasing those cute baby props and tiny cute handmade outfits. I love capturing the connections between family members. Those little fleeting moments are things that we should not forget, and those images speak to me the most.

What is your next
photography goal?

The pandemic has got in my way of pursuing dreams for the past couple of years, and now I finally opened a studio of my own. I wish I could photograph more newborns and babies in my beautiful studio in Southlake, TX. I also aim to do monthly mini sessions to create memories for my older little clients and their families. It is such a joy to see them grow.
