That feeling of nostalgia inspired my Storybook Bedroom Portraits, a vintage, fully styled childhood portrait experience created to preserve the softness, imagination, and fleeting beauty of being little.
With its dreamy powder-blue palette, vintage iron bed, delicate linens, storybooks, pearls, florals, and touches of antique gold, the room feels like a childhood bedroom remembered through time. A soft, film-inspired finish brings everything together with muted colors, creamy highlights, subtle grain, and a gentle sense of nostalgia.
And to make the experience effortless for parents, a carefully curated wardrobe is provided for each session, with clothing and accessories selected specifically for the set.

A Little Bedroom From a Storybook
When I designed this set, I didn't want it to feel like a traditional photography backdrop. I wanted to create a little world for children to step into.
Powder-blue walls, a vintage white iron bed, soft ivory bedding, old-fashioned books, delicate flowers, pearls, and antique-inspired details give the room its storybook character without making it feel overly themed.
The colors are intentionally soft and quiet, allowing the child to remain the focus of every photograph.
The result feels familiar yet a little magical — somewhere between a favorite childhood story and a beautiful memory.
Inspired by the Nostalgia of Vintage Film
The Storybook Bedroom has a distinctly vintage feel, inspired in part by the softness and nostalgia of film photography.
I love muted colors, warm skin tones, creamy whites, gentle contrast, and subtle grain — photographs that don't feel overly polished or digital, but instead have the character of something you might discover years later in a treasured family album.
Combined with vintage furniture, classic children's clothing, books, pearls, and florals, this film-inspired approach gives the portraits a timeless quality.
The goal isn't to make the photographs look old.
It is to create images that feel as beautiful years from now as they do today.
A Fully Styled Portrait Experience
One of the biggest questions parents have before a photography session is always: What should my child wear?
For Storybook Bedroom Portraits, I've taken care of that for you.
A curated children's wardrobe is provided, with pieces selected specifically to complement the colors and vintage character of the room. Soft blues, ivory, cream, delicate lace, classic silhouettes, subtle patterns, and vintage-inspired details all photograph beautifully in this setting.
For siblings, I can coordinate pieces so the children complement one another without looking overly matched.
Providing the wardrobe also allows me to design each portrait as a whole. The set, clothing, accessories, colors, and textures are all thoughtfully chosen to work together, creating a beautifully cohesive gallery while making the experience much easier for parents.
Portraits That Feel Like Childhood
Some of my favorite children's portraits aren't the ones where everyone is sitting perfectly still and smiling at the camera.
They are the moments in between.
A baby discovering a strand of pearls. A little girl turning the pages of a book. A child catching her reflection in a vintage mirror. Sisters sharing flowers or making each other laugh.
Instead of asking children to pose throughout the entire session, I encourage them to read, explore, play, cuddle, and interact. These simple activities help children relax and allow their real expressions and personalities to come through.
We'll still create those beautiful classic portraits looking toward the camera, but I also want the finished gallery to feel like a little chapter from your child's story.
From Baby Milestones to Growing Childhood
One of the things I love most about this set is how differently it photographs at every age.
For a sitter-age baby, the room becomes a place of discovery. For toddlers and young children, it becomes somewhere to play, read, and imagine. For older children, the same setting can take on a softer, more editorial feeling.
It is also beautiful for siblings, giving them a natural space to read together, cuddle on the bed, share flowers, whisper, and laugh.
The room stays the same.
The story changes because your child does.

Moms Are Welcome to Join
Moms are always welcome to step into the Storybook Bedroom for a few portraits with their little ones.
This can be especially wonderful for babies and younger children who may feel shy or uncertain in a new environment. Having Mom nearby often helps them relax quickly, and the simple interactions between mother and child — cuddling on the bed, reading a story, playing together, or sharing a quiet little moment — can create some of the most natural and meaningful images from the session.
You don't need to worry about posing or looking at the camera the entire time. I will gently guide you while focusing on the connection between you and your child.
Mom-and-child portraits are welcome during the September 12 Mini Sessions. If Dad would also like to join for a few family portraits, please book a Full Storybook Bedroom Session instead. The additional time allows us to include Mom, Dad, children, and different family combinations without rushing the experience.
Preserving the Little Things
Childhood changes slowly enough that we don't always notice it happening.
Until suddenly, we do.
The roundness of a baby's cheeks disappears. Little feet grow bigger. A favorite dress no longer fits. The child who once pretended to read every page is suddenly reading the story herself.
Photography lets us hold onto some of those details.
My goal isn't simply to document what your child looks like today, but to preserve a little piece of who they are right now — their expressions, curiosity, sweetness, and all those tiny things you don't yet realize you will miss.
What to Wear — Outfits Provided for Children
To make your Storybook Bedroom session easy and beautifully coordinated, a curated collection of blue-and-white vintage-inspired outfits for both boys and girls will be provided by the studio.
The sizes shown in the outfit guide — 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, and 130 — refer approximately to the child's height in centimeters. Since the outfits come from different brands, sizing can vary, so these numbers are only a general guide.
Girls' dresses are especially flexible in sizing. For example, the child shown in the sample images is approximately a size 110, but she can comfortably wear many of the dresses labeled 90–120. I also have small pearl garment clips to temporarily adjust dresses in the back for a better fit.
Please arrive about 20-30 minutes before your scheduled session so your child can try on a few options and we can choose the best-fitting outfit together.
Moms joining the September 12 Mini Session for a few mother-and-child portraits are encouraged to wear white or soft ivory, either a dress or a coordinated top-and-bottom outfit. White should be the main color, although small touches of soft blue are perfectly welcome.

Mom + Me Add-On — $100
Mom is welcome to join for a few sweet mother-and-child portraits. The add-on automatically includes the complete edited gallery, typically 20–30 images — no additional gallery upgrade needed.
For babies and younger children who may be shy or need a little help warming up, having Mom join can also create some of the most natural and meaningful moments of the session.
Full Storybook Bedroom Session — $595

The Full Session lasts approximately 1–1.5 hours and is ideal for families with younger children who need more time, larger families, or anyone wanting a greater variety of individual portraits, sibling portraits, and family combinations. Full Sessions are scheduled separately, and I will do my best to accommodate your preferred date and time based on availability.
