That head of hair. Those little cheeks. And the tiny toes that deserved a few photographs of their own!
This baby boy’s gallery has so much to love: cozy knits, warm earthy colors, a little teddy bear, and some very sweet moments with Mom and Dad.
For his newborn session at July Angel Photography, we brought together carefully styled baby portraits and simple family photographs. The result is a collection with plenty of variety—and one very loved little boy at the heart of it.
Neutral Colors, Cozy Textures & a Touch of Forest Green
Mom wanted to keep the portraits mostly neutral so they would complement her home. We built the styling around creams, warm browns, and soft earthy tones, with a touch of forest green for variety.
Think cozy knits, woven baskets, rustic wood, and little toes peeking out of soft layers. Each setup has its own look, but the shared colors and textures bring the gallery together.
The forest green portraits add a little richness to the collection—and look especially lovely with his dark hair!
I love planning with your home in mind. Whether you eventually choose a framed portrait or several photographs displayed together, the colors can feel like they belong in your space.
Tiny Outfits, Big Personality
One of my favorite parts of styling newborn portraits is finding pieces that add interest without overwhelming the baby.
Here, a little knit outfit lets his bare feet peek out in the wooden bowl. A brown hooded romper pairs with a miniature white bed. And a tiny teddy bear makes an appearance beside him—sometimes the smallest accessory brings a whole setup together.
A beautiful texture, a well-chosen outfit, and those little fingers and toes give us plenty to photograph.
A Closer Look, Please
The wider photographs show the complete setup, but I always love moving closer.
That is when you notice the hands resting beneath a cheek, the curve of a little foot, or the way soft fabric frames a baby’s face.
In the wooden bowl portraits, you can see both approaches: one image includes his whole curled-up body, while another brings you closer to his face and toes.
These photographs work beautifully together in a gallery. You get the scene—and the details you want to remember.
A Little Bucket Portrait Moment
The rustic bucket setup gave us a particularly sweet portrait, with his hands tucked beneath his chin and warm caramel fabric around him.
It looks wonderfully simple in the finished photograph, but there are plenty of small decisions behind it: supporting the position, arranging the fabric, placing the hands, and choosing the camera angle.
After years of practice, I have a familiar workflow for creating these portraits while responding to each baby. We work toward the image gently, and if a setup is not comfortable for a little one, we change direction.
For this photograph, the warm styling frames him beautifully. But that little face is still the best part.
Cream Knits and a Chair Just His Size
The tiny wicker chair brought a lighter look to the collection.
With cream layers, a soft outfit, and his hands nestled beside his cheek, this setup had so many lovely details. The woven chair and knitted fabric added texture without needing lots of extra decoration.
And those feet! Newborn outfits are adorable, but I am always happy when a few tiny toes get to be part of the portrait.
A Little Forest Green
For the green basket portraits, I paired a deep green wrap with textured layers and a natural woven basket.
Keeping the colors close allowed his face and hands to stand out. The wider portrait shows the full arrangement, while the closer image lets you linger over his features.
It is the same setup with two different reasons to love it—and a lovely addition to the softer neutrals throughout the gallery.
Then Came the Mom-and-Dad Cuddles
As much as I love styling baby portraits, the family photographs deserve their own moment.
Mom and Dad wore navy, which looked beautiful against the simple backgrounds and their baby’s light outfit. With the styling kept minimal, your eye goes straight to their expressions.
There is a portrait of them leaning together to look at him, a kiss shared over their little boy, and Dad planting a gentle kiss on his head.
These photographs show his tiny size in a way the individual portraits cannot: how little he looks against Dad’s chest and how easily he fits into the space between his parents.
Parents, You Belong in the Pictures, Too
When you are busy caring for a newborn, being photographed yourself may not be at the top of your list.
But you do not need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to do with your hands. That part is my job.
I will guide you into position and give you something simple to do: look at your baby, bring your faces a little closer, or give that soft little head a kiss.
Your baby’s individual portraits preserve their features. The photographs with you preserve the way you held them.
This gallery is a lovely reminder to make room for both.
Let’s Plan Something for Your Little One
Love the warm brown knits? Prefer the cream textures? Already picturing your baby wrapped in forest green?
Send me the photographs you are drawn to, and we can start there. You can also tell me about the colors in your home and where you might display your portraits. Those details help me plan a collection that feels personal to your family.
We will discuss styling and the family photographs you would love to have, then work with your baby’s comfort during the session.
The studio provides newborn wraps, outfits, props, and accessories, so there is no need to shop for every little piece.
Bring your baby, feeding supplies, and everyday essentials. I will have the photography setups ready—and we will leave room for cuddles along the way.
